Redress Raleigh 2010: Reaches New Heights

The second annual show of Redress Raleigh (John covered last year’s show) was hosted this past Saturday, April 17 at Flanders Gallery on West Street. 15 designers were chosen this year to showcase their creativity in fashion through eco-conscious clothing. John Morris and I attended and stood up close to enjoy this rising movement in local Raleigh fashion.

North Carolina’s Newest Wonder: The NCMA

I’ve had very few experiences in which I’ve been overwhelmed with the physical beauty of a man-made landscape. Seeing the new building at the North Carolina Museum of Art was just that, and then some.

Art to Wear 2010

I am really excited to be writing this particular post, for a few reasons:

  1. Art to Wear was really cool, and there was a very diverse body of work
  2. It’s a good kickoff to a few fashion posts that are gonna be posted (Redress Raleigh is on Saturday, and I’m dubbing this week Raleigh Fashion Week)
  3. It’s not about the Jackpot!

Ok, in all seriousness, Art to Wear returned this year to Reynolds Coliseum on NC State’s campus, and it was a smashing hit, again. These kids have talent. The pool of designers expanded further this year, where traditionally the work has come from Anni Albers Scholars (textiles/art & design majors) and Textiles or Art & Design Majors, this year’s lineup included students from Landscape Architecture, Architecture, and even Food Sciences!
