The Queens Together Motorcycle Festival and Stunt Show

This past Saturday saw a portion of Salisbury Street closed off for the Queens Together National Motorcycle Club 7th Anniversary Reunion. It was a two day event in total, but the part I attended (Saturday afternoon) was a stunt show, festival, and showcase of tricked out motorcycles. The music, dancing, artwork, and various booths added a welcome splash of culture to a part of Raleigh that is usually quiet on weekends.

Raleigh Loses a Beloved Icon; His Family Needs Your Help

This past Sunday at 7:16PM, Raleigh lost one of its most beloved and inspirational characters–Russell Lee, a.k.a. “Sho Nuff”. His family is unable to find life insurance information for him, and needs help with funeral and other final expenses.

From Trash to Treasure: The Walnut Creek Wetlands

Just barely outside of Downtown Raleigh lies the Walnut Creek Wetlands area. For decades the area was neglected and served as a place to dump refuse, despite being home to more than 50 federally protected animal species. After several years of cleanup efforts, this past September saw the opening of the Walnut Creek Wetlands Center (above), designed by local architect Frank Harmon.
