I don’t know the story behind the bamboo structures in front of Kilgore Hall. There are several benches and seats which make a beautiful outdoor picnic area.
This was a project of the horticulture department three or four years back; I’m not sure if it was just something the senior class did, or something the faculty did, or what. They put the table and benches in, and then surrounded it with the bamboo structures. They change the bamboo structures every spring, as far as I can tell.

It is from Will Hooker’s classes. He has been leading these classes in structure building at NCSU for many years now.
