Back in February this year Raleigh’s historic Crabtree Jones House was successfully moved to its new site by Preservation NC. This architectural treasure now needs to be prepped for a grand open house later this month. You can help us ‘get our house in order’ by attending the Crabtree Jones House Clean-Up from 9 am until 12 noon this Saturday, May 10, 2014.
The underground music scene is returning to Cameron Village — this time above ground on Daniels Street near Carolina Café. Cameron Village Live kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 25 with a DJ on stage. CV Live is a nod to the Village’s fabled history in the emergence of local rock music while celebrating today’s newest music and fashion. Live is a free public event, and will run to 10 p.m.
Can you donate a couple hours of your time this weekend to help the Friends of Oberlin Cemetery preserve an important Raleigh historic landmark? We invite the community to join them in their effort to protect and preserve Raleigh’s 140 year-old African American Oberlin Cemetery.
The Friends are sponsoring an Oberlin Cemetery Community Clean Up this Saturday, March 29, from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon at the site, which is located at 1014 Oberlin Road. Volunteers are asked to come dressed for yard work and debris removal.
