The Office Night Club Quietly Disappears
The Office was pretty old by night club standards downtown. It started in 2001 in a former coal warehouse dating back to the latter part of the 19th century. The last time I found myself in the area, I noticed the sign and valet stand gone. It looks to be closed for good.
I’ve never been to this particular club before. As I’ve mentioned in a previous post about The Office, the clientele and appearance that was projected (red carpet, valet, surly-looking bouncers, etc.) was unappealing to me, so I never ventured inside.
Nestled between a few abandoned Dillon buildings, the former coal yard, and the Amtrak Station, it isn’t exactly in a highly trafficked area. Nonetheless, they managed to stay in business for around 8 years. Their Facebook profile last advertised an event 4 months ago, so it’s safe to guess it was somewhat recently that they shut down.
I’d like to see something interesting take over the space, but I think the only thing that could possibly survive in that location is another bar or night club.

I have heard that a new 25 and older club is going in the space and will be open soon.

Maybe Kings will finally re-open. They might be the only club with a pre-built audience that could handle being in such an out-of-the-way location.

Lesson learned— being so “exclusive” can end up being a detriment to business in the long-term, especially if a recession comes around.

Never been there, but knew of it’s existence. After spending all day in an office, going to a place called The Office didn’t sound that exciting ;)

The place was packed all the time but just like The Wharehouse it went out of business. I guess bad mananagement?
