The Giant Moth Lights of The Office
I’ve never been to The Office on West Martin Street. Being a fan of electronic music, I have toyed with the idea a few times. The red carpet, valet, and shady/strange looking people around it have done quite a good job of keeping me away from the place though.

Interesting that you had these apprehensions about the place. Around the time this was posted, (2007) it was one of the more upscale hangouts in downtown Raleigh. I met my girlfriend of 15 years there in 2005. I don’t recall seeing lots of shady or strange people around there. They used to have a reputation in the first few years of opening for enforcing their dress code; there were some accusations that the dress code was racist. I never saw this personally, I dressed very casually and never had an issue getting in — found a very friendly atmosphere with all races inside. Too bad it’s gone, I had some memorable times there.
