Great shot! Love it. And of course the hot glazed.

Now we know that “his little round belly” shakes when he laughs “like a bowlful of jelly donuts.”

Looks like all Santa needs now is his sleigh. Decades ago it sat just at about the spot of the Krispy Kreme sign. I’m sure some of you remember it well.

Al: Do I ever remember that sleigh! It sat under an ancient Raleigh oak in the yard of the beautiful house on that corner as a token of advertisement for the antique shop housed therein. Such a long, long time ago.

So just when did Krispy Kreme move to the corner of N Person and Peace Sts? I remember a time when they operated out of a narrow store front just down the street north of their current location at 618 N Person. I think something called PieBird is at that location currently.

RN51: I remember Krispy Kreme being in the new location as early as summer of 1972. I just don’t recall exactly when the store moved up to the corner.

Raleigh Boy: Yep…right under that tree. I recall the front of the sleigh straddled the base of that huge oak.

RaleighNative51,
I remember the first Person St. location you mentioned. I lived on Oakwood Ave., down near the cemetery. It was just under a mile each way, and I always hot-footed it both ways: on the way there I’d be anticipating those golden circles of perfection, and on the way back home, I’d be anticipating getting them into the house safely, before people swarmed me… “Hey, you paid a nickel each, right? Well, here’s a dime, gimme two.” (Right… Like I walked two miles to sell them at cost! And besides, there were eight of us in the family, and I’d get a second whole donut (pun intended) if I delivered the entire dozen; if there were any missing, I’d get the sad&mad-eye from my siblings, and the run-for-your-well-being from either or both of my parents.)
Of course, that was before some fool of a dietitian invented cholesterol. :)
