“Crab Man” looks like a chick, in sort of a “Marlene Dietrich by way of H.P. Lovecraft” way. Was it actually a titled piece?

No, it was not a titled piece but I agree that it could be female.

Those “crab hands” might also be handmade trick-or-treat bags.
