The Evolution of Street Lighting in Raleigh

New LED street lighting on Hillsborough Street

If you’ve driven down Hillsborough Street at night within the past week or so, you may have noticed some new lighting. What makes this lighting noteworthy is that it is LED (right), as opposed to fluorescent or the more common sodium vapor lamps (left).

The Piedmont: Amtrak’s North Carolina-Only Line

The Piedmont #76, Charlotte to Raleigh route, is the Amtrak line that serves only North Carolina. From Charlotte it makes stops in Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington and Durham. It ends is Raleigh. The reverse route is a part of the Carolinian line, train #79.
