Goodnight Raleigh - a look at the art, architecture, history, and people of the city at night

Back to the 80s – A VJ/DJ Battle

This Friday (July 31) will see the DJs and VJs of 120 Mins of Music presenting a flashback 80s party that is sure to ellicit some great memories of that fabulous decade. 120 Mins of Music is the same group that put on Rave Til Dawn, so it looks to be a very fun party.

As stated on the flyer, 80s dress is not required, but desired. We are busting out some crazy old school clothing. Don’t remember what you wore? Google is your friend. We can’t WAIT to see what crazy stuff you guys bring out. We promise not to disappoint. The last 80s party we had Madonna, Boy George, and countless other varieties!

First and foremost, this is a VJ / DJ battle where 120 Mins of Music will be playing videos against the Phantom Frequency who will be busting out some pure audio. We’ll be going back and forth all night trying to out 80s one another with our massive collection of 80s music between us.

But to take the night even a step further, we WILL be having an Atari 2600 challenge. There will be prizes for best scores. We promise, it will NOT be ET!

We’ll be playing video clips all night to reminisce all your 80s television and movies memories.

Some of the contributing photographers from Goodnight, Raleigh! will be there. Come dressed up in your best 80s attire (desired but not required) and enjoy some great 80s music and video. It should be a lot of fun.

@VJ130XE
Couldnt help but notice the Wumpscut T on your homepage. Does this mean *gasp* that somewhere in the area someone is spinning electro-industrial, ebm, power electronics???? Will there soon be a “Funker Night??? :)!

Lupus,

There are several djs spinning industrial and ebm, and even some local industrial bands (yours truly amongst them). Thursday nights at Legends DJ Joey spins EBM, electro and industrial, and 4th Friday of each month DJ Poe host KINETIK at Flex, also EBM and industrial.

Greetings,

Really appreciate the post, we had an awesome night and are already plottin’ the next one ;) I heard that one of Team Goodnight was there, but never got much chance to step out of the booth, hopefully catch ya’ll next time. I’ve been hitting up your site for awhile, stumbled on it awhile back when looking for buildings to explore around the area, love what you’ve been doing and like that you’re expanding out…

Danke!
