Goodnight Raleigh - a look at the art, architecture, history, and people of the city at night

Bike First Friday (3/06/09)

Bike First Friday rolled out again this month with a monster showing of over 40 bikers! The weather was perfect and there were plenty of new shows to check out. We started off the ride with a quick stop at Helios to check out the photo exhibit by a group of local artists and photographers.

After hitting up that show, we rode up to DesignBox to check out the new work of Luke Miller Buchanan, an artist with a studio at The Bonded Llama. After clearing out the foodstuffs and checking out the great artwork, we rode up to the Raleigh City Museum to check the first series of photos from the Portraits of Raleigh show, and the Revolution of Media show that’s been up for some time.

Next we went to Lump to check out a show with various artists, called Penned. I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take pictures inside! The group shot, though, was taken outside of Lump. Please go check this show out sometime, it’s worth your time.

Finally, we made our way to Fish Market, which was showing an Open Call show, featuring artists from around the College – exhibiting sculpture, photographs, and posters. The Fish Market will be having a second opening this upcoming friday, since this first opening fell on Spring Break. So, if you missed out on this past one, come visit this upcoming Friday night, they would love to see ya!

As always, Bike First Friday is every First Friday, meet at the Belltower at 7 – Bring Lights, Locks, and be ready to rock the streets! See ya there.
