Goodnight Raleigh - a look at the art, architecture, history, and people of the city at night

Cameron Bar and Grill

A few days ago a coworker of mine recommend Cameron Bar and Grill for two reasons: the food and the unique photos on the wall. Knowing that I’m a sucker for local history, he suggested I stop by and check it out.

As promised, the walls were lined with some really breathtaking photos of Cameron Village from decades past. However, the appeal of the place was not simply limited to the wall decorations or atmosphere.

Cameron Bar and Grill is owned and operated by two brothers, Richard and R.D., who also run North Ridge Pub and Cafe Tiramisu. While speaking with Richard, every few minutes a different customer would come up and say hello, goodbye, or ask how he was. A good owner or manager of any restaurant gets to know his or her guests, and he certainly knew his.

As a vegetarian, I found the menu to be pretty lacking, but this is the case with most restaurants. I was able to pick an appetizer and a few side items to make a meal of, and it was delicious. It was reasonably priced, and the bartenders were very friendly and provided fantastic service.

Despite being a fairly new establishment, it has charm and character. It feels polished yet relaxed, casual but not too casual, and has a friendly front of the house staff. My only complaint is the number of televisions. I personally think one TV in a bar/restaurant is too many, and this place had several.

They are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

If you like to wait a super long time for drinks, food, checks…service and then pay too much for it, this place is perfect!

I LOVE Cameron Bar and Grill. it’s one of my favorite locations to go for any reason and any professional meetings, too. I also really dig the photographs on the wall and the overall atmosphere. And the “dessert menu” (which is actually a dessert tray) – gets my sweet tooth every time!

I’m hearing mixed reviews about this place but I hope they do ok. Looks like something my brother would like, so Christmas season, here we come!

I was definitely happy to see them opening. I’m digging the transformation of Cameron Village in terms of the restaurants. They seem to be doing well, bringing some night time activity to an area that’s quite busy during the day and rather nicely spaced around the shopping area for parking convenience.

It almost makes up for them kicking out the last newsstand in this part of town.

I really like this place. Great Decor, and a nice bar. Perfect amount of TV’s in my opinion. Not sure if anybody else has noticed this, but they have really cold draft beer…which I love!

Great food, great prices and most of all the bartenders were friendly. The hosttess was very friendly even as she was under pressure from guest that did not understand there was a wait because it was obviously busy. I would recommend this wonderful restaurant to any of my friends and even as a buiness meeting lunch spot. Mickey surely is one of those hard to please guest. I hope you at least give your wife (if you have one) another chance if she messes up with your dinner. We all have bad days and apparently this was one of yours. I will be dining frequently at the Cameron Bar and Grill.

Love this place. My roommate and I were going to go to the Drafthouse today to watch the State-UNC game but it was packed. We chanced upon the Cameron Bar and Grill, walked in, and ended up at the bar for the better part of 3 hours.

Definitely going to the next game there.

I love this place! Great food, great service! Of course, I’m INCREDIBLY biased since well… I work there! :P

Love the shots of the inside though! You caught the ambient lighting that I adore!

Who cares about the food or the drinks or the prices, that’s an awesome shot of the picture on the wall, John.
