Goodnight Raleigh - a look at the art, architecture, history, and people of the city at night

Lighting, Inc. on Peace Street

This place has no web presence, and I’ve never been to the store before. They certainly have an interesting array of lighting fixtures–notice the NASCAR themed lamps in the bottom photo. The location also has a nice view of the city at night.

Mostly junky things in stock. If you have to order repair parts or something from one of their catalogs , the owner is prone to forgetting to place the order and none too apologetic about it.. If he does order it, he doesn’t call to let you know it has finally arrived 6 weeks after. Nothing but bad experiences from a person who comes across as nice, but doesn’t really seem to give a darn. And getting something repaired there is a nightmare. Takes forever and still doesn’t work. This was my experience.

I totally agree with above review. I had the exact same experience. Very strange how these people have managed to stay in business.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. We have two antique lamps I was going to take there for repair. They’ve been in Raleigh on that corner as long as I can remember.

Any suggestions for lamp repairs in the area?

NCSU– The Shade Tree at the Western Blvd, Hillsboro St merge does antique lamp rehab. I used to take mine to Thompson-Lynch when they were downtown years ago. They are in Cam Vill now, but I don’t know if they still do custom repairs.
