Small Business Spotlight: William-Cozart, Inc.
Located deep in the heart of the Warehouse District, William-Cozart is a family-run antique store that has been a cornerstone of downtown Raleigh retail for 30 years.
They specialize in various flavors of Asian art and antiques. Items available in the catalog include Japanese woodblock prints, ceramics, paintings, and metal work. They also carry a diverse selection of American and European antiques as well.
I don’t know the history of the two buildings they occupy, but I was incredibly intrigued by the building-within-a-building as shown in the image above. I liked the way it was incorporated into the presentation of the artwork they offer.

William-Cozart occupies part of what was once the Raleigh Oil Mill & Fertilizer Co. This was one of the earliest industries in the warehouse district, having been established in the 1880s. The cotton oil mill complex comprised several buildings in the block, including Lot 13.

Years ago I worked for W&C. We had some great times. I learned a great deal and used what I had learned many times through the years.
I remember that Mr. Williams passed away during the time that I worked for them .I still haven’t seen Otha for a long time though I now live in Durham and often go to Raleigh. So Otha If you get this let’s do lunch, my treat.
