…leaves little doubt as to who occupies the building, huh?
I’m glad to see it too, but the red structure does make it look like a billboard.

I used to go regularly to the Embers Club in the late 70’s when it was in the Hilton Basement on Hillsborough St., and I’m having trouble finding info on that. Someone told me that I was there, with others, on the night that the Embers recorded?? or first played?? “I Love Beach Music”. I remember being in that club many many times when they played that song, but didn’t recall the first time. It was sort of a non-event at the time as it was just an unfamiliar new song, but of course it became huge. Does anyone have info on this? Thanks!

Red Hat signage – tacky, tacky. tacky.

J.C.,
Why do you think it’s tacky? Although I have not yet seen it in person, I love what I see in Bryan’s photo.

I’ll take tacky over bland any day. I think it’s a sign of life.

I was thinking “now that’s a good looking billboard”
