Seen above is the Archdale Building. I know nothing about it other than it’s a state governent building. Anyone know when it was built and what goes on there now?

Cool pic. I like the sky. Don’t know anything about the building, but among the more interesting things I found on a Google search is that the N.C. Office of Environmental Education has a library on the seventh floor that is free and open to the public. Check it out http://www.eenorthcarolina.org/library/about.htm

Current usage is mostly the headquarters for the Department of Environment & Natural Resources. (Including its sub-agencies like Division of Water Quality, among others.)
No clue on the history but from what I’ve seen both inside and out, I’d place it at the early 70s.

When I was in 8th grade I worked in that building for a week as a Governor’s Page. One of the secretaries (she was in college) and I snuck up on the roof everyday and had lunch! Coolest place to dine outdoors in Raleigh… unless you get arrested!
I’ve also heard that the building sways pretty good in strong winds!
