This week Flashback Friday takes a nostalgic look at a Hillsboro Street that is now long gone. The view depicted in our featured postcard is looking up the broad avenue from the middle of the 200 block toward the State Capitol. From there we’ll saunter down the street while taking in the scenery of more than a century ago.
The City of Raleigh Museum will host Goodnight Raleigh’s publisher and history editor, Raleigh Boy, this week for a photo presentation on Raleigh’s lost architectural treasures. The event will take place at the COR Museum, 220 Fayetteville St., Wednesday, March 11, at 7.00 pm in the museum’s gallery. Admission is free.
Featured on Flashback Friday this week is a classic mid-century photochrome postcard depicting NC State University’s Patterson Hall. The stately buff-colored brick building has been a campus landmark for more than 100 years.
