Beautiful Modernist House Facing Demolition

Despite the Triangle’s high number of midcentury modern houses, there aren’t that many located inside inside of 440. The Voorhees House (above) is one example, located at 2727 Mayview Road. Triangle Modernist Houses has raised awareness of its looming demolition. It is listed on MLS as a lot only, with a sketch of what a neoclassical house in its place may look like.

Roundabout Art Collective: Art Moves West

Starting this First Friday (April Fool’s Day), a new art gallery will be open to the public: the Roundabout Art Collective. Featuring the works of 25 artists, the new project is headed by the First Lady of NC State, Susan Woodson.

A Ghost of the Warehouse District [UPDATED]

Right past the Morgan Street Bridge lies the foundation and structural artifacts of a long gone building. Looking much like the rest of the Warehouse District, the utilitarian building in the photo above was home to the Capital Coca-Cola Bottling Company. The space is now home to Men at Work Care Care Center.

Unfortunately, the only structural remains of this building are the steel support beams in the secret underground lair in the photo above.
