Goodnight Raleigh - a look at the art, architecture, history, and people of the city at night

The Revolution Couture Fashion Show

On December 4th, three fashion designers showcased work as a part of the Revolution Couture Fashion Show at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. The event was a fundraising effort for both MorLove and the upcoming Redress Raleigh show in the Spring.

The event was produced by Shari Bolar, who was also one of the designers featured in the show. She was joined by Bren Anderson and Emily Mays in showcasing 30 designs. When asked about the the show in an article in the Technician, she had this to say:

A lot of fashion shows we’ve had in Raleigh and designers are becoming more green. We use more clothes that are made from recyclable materials,” Bolar said. “I wanted to help Redress in some way, and basically I wanted to represent the change that is happening in Raleigh.

This particular event was smaller in both the number of models and designers than the Redress Raleigh show in the Spring (you can read our post on the previous one here), but it packed a good amount of entertainment in a short period of time, with a DJ and two audience sections. Being that it was the first stop of my First Friday trip, it certainly got the night off to a great start.

It took place on the same night as Threads, the NCSU College of Textiles Senior Show. I’ve admittedly haven’t had much exposure to the various fashion shows around town, but between that show and the Art to Wear show held every year in the Spring, it seems as though the number and size of the audiences increase each time.
