Wake EMS Goes Out On A Call
No, I wasn’t ambulance chasing, I just happened to be walking by as the garage doors were opening and lights were blinking. Most days the garage doors are closed at night, but every now and then they are left open when work is slow. Back in August I got a photo of a few EMS workers Paramedics hanging out during such a period. This is also the second time I’ve captured an ambulance downtown.

While your photos are attractive, your PC Media-inspired jargon is not! Specifically I am speaking of how the ill-informed and the disrespectful call me and my brother and sister EMTs and Paramedics, “ambulance drivers, EMS workers, rescue workers” or any permutation thereof…. we went to school, we have technical or undergraduate degrees in this ‘ambulance worker’ thing; we administer medications; we start IVs and defibrillate (and are able to discuss the pathophysiology of ventricullar fibrillation…)…we defeated the Soviet Union and Communism….most liberals cried when this happened I know, but it’s true…. so, why must we use proloterian-speak for our technical titles? You imply that we are unskilled labour by using such titles – we are not…while I have nothing against you personally, I am insultated and thus, attempting to educate you….remember, using PC-word code insults our language; using the adverse indentifiers noted above insults our profession and perpetuates our continued abuse, low pay and lack of unified national recognition…..

Michael-
I sincerely apologize if my choice of wording was offensive to you or anyone else. I can assure you it was not my intent.
That said, I am truly bewildered at your accusation that I am in any way implying you and your peers in your field are unskilled or otherwise not an integral and highly respected part of society. I have nothing but the highest regard for paramedics, fighfighers, and police officers–this is why they so frequently are the subject of my photos on this site.
I’ll amend the article.
