A Moment of Christmas Ennui

For me, nothing can bring the sadness and despair brewing beneath to the surface quicker than the holidays. I captured this photograph on a cold night in a strange bar.

A Different Way to Spell Christmas [UPDATED]

I suppose it’s the thought that counts. Or, so I thought! As I was taking this picture I assumed there had to be a reason for the misspelling. It’d be very hard to believe that someone would misspell Christmas, especially this close to the event — and it turns out that there was a very good reason for it.

The folks at the North Carolina State Archives have recently launched a new online exhibit titled Carolina Christmas. Featuring historic holiday photos and documents from across the state, the exhibit gives a glimpse into the ghosts of Christmas past.
