The Official Beginning

This is the official beginning of the Goodnight, Raleigh! blog. Goodnight Raleigh! is the tentative name for a project I have been working on for some time.

When I first moved to Raleigh, NC in 2004, I knew next to nothing about the place. I didn't move here as a direct result of a job, school, girl, or friends. I knew one person that lived in Chapel Hill (30 min away) and that was it.

It was also around this time that I inherited my parents' old 35mm SLR camera when they upgraded to digital. Seeing as though I had no girlfriend, job, or school schedule I had to find something to do with my time. I went downtown and started taking pictures, as it provided a good way to spend time as well as explore the city.

Fast forward to 2007, and I've hatched a new scheme. Combining my love to both night photography and cityscapes has produced an idea to document the places, people, and landmarks of the downtown area after dark.

The pictures taken prior to today will be added here in an out-of-order fashion. This first picture is of me, in May of 2005 on the corner of Hargett and Dawson.
